Professor Bob Pressey leads a research program on conservation planning within the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies. Bob has three years of funding for a research fellow to work collaboratively with Queensland Parks and Wildlife on an innovative project on the management costs of Queensland's terrestrial reserves. The main objectives of the project are to compile data on current management costs of reserves, by management activity; work with managers to estimate enhanced management costs of reserves, by management activity, to meet explicit standards for management effectiveness; compile data on potential internal and external drivers of management costs for individual reserves; and develop statistical models to identify drivers of management costs and predict future management costs of existing and additional reserves, considering land use change and climate change.
